Jon Lester (1-1) out-pitched Rich Harden the second time around earning his first victory of the season. David Ortiz and Jason Varitek provided the offense both homering to propel the Red Sox to their second straight victory winning 5-0.
Lester managed to turn over three twin killings pitching for 6 2/3 innings with three walks while blanking the A’s in his start. Kevin Youkilis continues to rip the ball as he went 2-4 with a double and an RBI single in the game.
Ortiz was 2-4 with a two-run homerun and Varitek was also 2-4 with a solo-shot and also scored two runs. Despite the 5-0 win Boston left 26 runners on base.
Star of the Game: Jon Lester
Lester got out of jams with three double plays and may have raised his confidence with the win against the A’s. Hopefully for Boston this win will translate into Lester having back to back good starts.
Preview of Next Game: Tim Wakefield vs Shaun Marcum
Well it looks like David Ortiz is going to start heating up and once the Red Sox can get Manny and Lowell going this offense may be hard to pitch against. As far as Wakefield is concerned six strong innings with minimal run damage would be ideal, but we do not live in that kind of world.
For us fantasy players lets see what Shaun Marcum really has this year. AND I STILL BELIEVE THE BLUE JAYS WILL FINISH THIRD IN THE DIVISION.
