Almost better than advertised Justin Masterson left the game after pitching 6 innings and only allowing one run, giving Boston a 3-1 lead, but the bullpen ruined his career debut.
After Masterson left the Sox with a lead and a stellar performance only giving up two hits, striking out four, and walking four Javier Lopez and Manny Delcarmen both gave up four runs total and the Angels broke the game open eventually winning 7-5.
Down 7-3 David Ortiz hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning off of Scott Shields but it was not enough as Manny Ramirez flew out to center field to end the game.
