With Brandon Moss on the shelf post-appendectomy and J.D. Drew and Coco Crisp back to health, the Red Sox made the call to add an extra arm in the pen to replace him instead of filling the bench with the likes of Chris Carter.
Following up on his brief stint with the club (one game to be exact) early this season where he pitched well but still managed to take the loss against the Los Angeles Angels, Craig Hansen will once again get the call up from AAA Pawtucket.
With Manny Delcarmen’s continuing struggles, I expect Hansen to play a major role setting up for the seemingly infallible duo of Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon. It’s time to see, once and for all, what Craig Hansen is made of and what the Red Sox can expect from him moving forward.
What role do you foresee Hansen filling in the pen? Will this finally be the time for Hansen to live up to his potential?
