Game 1: Rolling seven
Daisuke Matsuzaka improved to 7-0 on the season as Boston took the first game of the doubleheader 5-3. David Ortiz hit his first homerun in eight days, a three-run shot, to help propel the Red Sox to the win.
Jonathan Papelbon completed the ninth inning despite giving up a solo homerun to earn his 12th save of the season.

Improving to 7-0 is obviously noteworthy, but finally giving this team some momentum to work with in the night cap was even better. 6 2/3 innings of work and six strikeouts on 103 pitches gives Matsuzaka the star here.
Game 2: Barely holding on
Mike Lowell drove in four runs on a two-run double and a two-run homerun but it was almost wasted as Boston had to come from behind in the bottom of the seventh to win the ball game 7-6.
After six unanswered runs from the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth and seventh innings David Ortiz grounded to the shortstop but plated Jacoby Ellsbury tying the game up at 6-6 in the seventh inning. Dustin Pedroia advanced to third on the Ortiz grounder and was later driven in by Kevin Youkilis for the 7-6 lead.
Mike Timlin earned his 141th career save in the ninth for the Red Sox win.
