Stoking up the Hot Stove: Peavy or Lowe for ’09?

The Boston Herald and Boston Globe have both reported rumors in the past day or two regarding some intriguing starting pitchers. Jake Peavy of San Diego is available, although he will probably cost a Johan Santana-tyle ransom to pry from the West Coast. Derek Lowe, of LA and 2004 fame here in the Hub, has stated the Red Sox are his first choice.

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays

Dear Tampa, You did it. It was only fitting that the Red Sox would come back from an improbable loss to force Game Six, but it had to be done to further the Cinderella season.

10/19: Do or Die Part III

We've been in this situation before. Last year. 2004. 1986. Are we going to make it 4-4 in improbable comebacks, or is our time up? Find out tonight.

Red Sox to go hard after Jake Peavy?

The Red Sox are in a great position to win the Peavy sweepstakes due to their depth and the Padres' asking price. That may seem like a steep price -- Bowden, Masterson and Anderson for Peavy -- but for a 27-year old who is as immensely talented as he is, it's completely logical.

The Red Sox enter tonight’s Game 7 with a chance to complete a comeback that might match, or perhaps even…

BOS 4, TB 2: One win away

Now, the Boston Red Sox are playing like the defending champions they are.

It's 9-1 in the playoffs. I'm not trying to intimate we have no shot of winning the ALCS, but 9-0 is a flawed statistic. So let's stop quoting it.

10/18: Do or Die Pt. II

2008 ALCS Game Six. Victory may seem unlikely, but the Red Sox have not claimed a championship title in the last ninety years without first digging themselves a 1-3 (or worse) hole in the ALCS, and then climbing out of it on their way to a World Series sweep. (The comment behavior is a little funky. Do not worry, when you hit submit, even if it times out for you, the comment went through. Just reload the comments page!)

Don’t look for Sox to win tonight

Being a Boston sports fan has been nothing short of terrific the since the start of the 21st century. Starting…
