During the game yesterday, Oakland Athletics shortstop Orlanda Cabrera was shown on camera asking a teammate “how can you hit that.”
Carbera was referencing Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball that was dancing all around the plate last night.
Wakefield improved to 11-3 on the season pitching six innings, allowing 10 hits, three runs, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Cabrera struck out twice against Wakefield’s knuckler.
J.D. Drew hit a solo homer, 12th of the season, and David Ortiz drove in four runs including a three-run shot in the sixth inning.
Jonathan Papelbon converted his 22nd save despite giving up a run in the ninth inning.
Star of the Game – Wakefield, Papi
1) Watching Wake’s knuckler last night was pretty sweet. It looked like one of those video game knuckleballs that dart everywhere before it reaches the plate.
2) Ortiz drove in four runs including that blast of a three-run shot in the sixth.
3) Drew’s homer was pivotal momentum wise for the Red Sox.
