While it might not seem like they’ve been playing for long, Wednesday marks the first day since February 27th that the Red Sox won’t play a game. Yes, baseball is back.
- Every day there seems to be a new storyline involving Grady Sizemore. Tuesday was no different, as it marked the first time since 2012 that the center fielder played in back-to-back games. (As comeback gains steam, some perspective for Grady Sizemore)
- Like Jon Lester did on Monday, John Lackey made his spring training debut on Tuesday. Although the tall right hander didn’t find the same success that Lester did, he still felt like it was a good first outing. (Lackey on target)
- Junichi Tazawa is an important member of the Red Sox bullpen, and has proven to be a reliable arm throughout his career. But there’s one thing 27 year old needs to improve upon. (Junichi Tazawa and hard contact)
- Scouts are everywhere during spring training evaluating their competition. One of the most intriguing spots they’ve observed has been the left side of the Red Sox infield. (Scouts share thoughts on Bogaerts, Middlebrooks)
- There are good ideas for baseball(instant replay, home plate collision rules), and there are bad ideas for baseball(uniforms with shorts, uniforms with bacon). Then there’s this. (Red Sox experimenting with count-calling over PA system)
- While he’s never been the best player, success always seems to find
Jonny Gomes. From Tampa Bay to Boston and everywhere in between the veteran outfielder’s infectious attitude propels those around him. (How do you quantify the unquantifiable?)
- Tweet of the day: Burke Badenhop is subconscious of his figure.
Burke Badenhop now pitching. Why does he wear stirrups? "I just don't have the body type for long pants."
