With the regular season less than 72 hours away, the Boston Red Sox have made a flurry of moves to trim down the roster.

After John Farrell announced earlier that Grady Sizemore will start in center field, Jackie Bradley Jr. was demoted to Triple-A. Drake Britton and Ryan Lavarnway were optioned to Pawtucket as well after Friday’s contest.

On Thursday, pitchers Steven Wright and Craig Breslow were retroactively placed from March 21 on the 15-day disabled list. Wright is dealing with healing from sports hernia surgery and Breslow has a strained left shoulder. Breslow would have likely made the team if he showed that he was healthy enough to be in the bullpen.

The roster stands at 30 players, including five non-roster invitees and 25 of the 40-man roster still up with the big league club as Grapefruit League action wraps up tomorrow afternoon at JetBlue Park against the Minnesota Twins.
