There was baseball under the lights at JetBlue Park on Wednesday night. Jake Peavy toed the rubber for the Red Sox and was strong over 4.2 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits and striking out 5. While the Red Sox ultimately fell to the Pirates by a final score of 4-2, Jackie Bradley kept the battle for center field interesting going 1-3 with a double.
- Whether Jackie Bradley wins the center field job, or Grady Sizemore fits the bill, neither can be expected to completely fill the gap left by Jacoby Ellsbury. The 30 year old provided speed, offense, and power atop Boston’s order that can’t be easily replaced. (Life without the leading man)
- Despite sustaining two separate injuries this spring, Jake Peavy believes that he’s as healthy as he’s ever been- and has guaranteeing results because of it. (Peavy says he’s healthier than he’s been in years)
- Given the logjam, the Red Sox outfield has many possibilities. But out of all the possible combinations, three players will ultimately dictate what direction the team takes. (Bradley, Carp, or Sizemore? No right answer to the Red Sox outfield logjam)
- While it was reported on Tuesday that Craig Breslow could be inching closer to game action, the Red Sox remain uncertain if he will be ready to start the season. Given Boston’s left handed depth, they can give Breslow as much time as he needs to get ready. (Red Sox unsure if Breslow will be ready when regular season begins)
- Veteran reliever Burke Badenhop is sick of being the “new guy” every season, but that’s just what the 31 year old is again this year. Now on the big stage in Boston, he’s out to prove that he’s not just some journeyman reliever. (Burke Badenhop hopes to stay put for a while with the Red Sox)
- Opening day is less than 2 weeks away. Here is a video to make your wait even more impatient. (Opening Day at Fenway Park is coming…)
- Tweet of the day: I wonder what it could be! Probably just a concert or a soccer game. Nothing to see here, move along…
Exciting Fenway Park announcement coming tomorrow……stay tuned!
