This is gonna be a long week for Red Sox fans. I have a feeling the next few games will be a grind for both players and spectators.
- The bullpen’s depleted, and needed a savior last night. He arrived in the form of Ryan Dempster and his solid seven innings of work that relieved the relief. (Ryan Dempster start much-needed)
- You could play musical chairs with the relief corps and the set-up & closer roles, and most every outcome would be excellent. So the loss of Joel Hanrahan isn’t that big of a deal, right? (Joel Hanrahan neither wanted, nor needed)
- Out goes Hanrahan, in comes Junichi Tazawa. He’ll get roughly a fortnight to be the shutdown guy in the 9th inning for the Red Sox. (In wake of injuries, Red Sox give Tazawa the closer role)
- There was another guy that might’ve had a chance to close – Koji Uehara. But Tazawa’s avg. fastball velocity is an impressive 93.8 mph, and still rising. (Junichi Tazawa, come on down!)
- Anytime you hear the word “colliding” in nature, it’s usually not a good sign. Just ask the dinosaurs. Or maybe even David Ross & Will Middlebrooks while you’re at it. (Injuries starting to mount for Red Sox)
- Since coming back from an injury, Stephen Drew has been trying to break out of a slump. And when he did on Monday, his brother couldn’t have been happier. (Stephen Drew Is Carving Out His Own Niche)
- Real mature, Jose Iglesias. Act like a child all you want. You’re not the one who needs to earn their $9.5 million contract. (PawSox’ Iglesias benched for disciplinary reasons)
What a smart little girl you got there, Keith:
My daughter told the TV during tonight’s @bbtn “Give my daddy a chance to talk so I can hear him!”
