It’s over. It’s really over. Baseball’s regular season is all but done now, and I can’t do anything but sit here sadly and try not to cry (and end up crying a lot).
- O Captain, My Captain! If it wasn’t for Ben Cherington staying true, this Red Sox team could’ve been totally different and nowhere close to as good. (Thankfully, Cherington stuck to his plan)
- First the playoff berth, then the division, and finally home field advantage. Other than the title, the Red Sox have accomplished every team achievement they could. (Red Sox clinch home field advantage)
- He’s already completed a comeback, so John Lackey had no qualms with John Farrell sitting him down for Sunday’s game. He’s certainly earned it. (John Farrell happy to reward John Lackey with final day off)
- Has fatigue hit Felix Doubront again? The southpaw’s looked shaky, and he might not even be on the roster for the first round of the playoffs. (Doubront’s playoff roster spot still in question)
- If anyone’s more prepared for postseason pressure, it’s Koji Uehara. The man with the thousand high fives thrives in spots like that. (Koji Uehara Prepared For Spotlight)
- Thanks, Brian Sabean. Your sweet tooth for over-performing veterans is going to ruin the offseason for us all. I don’t want Jacoby Ellsbury to leave… (Pence deal good news for Ellsbury)
- You guys ready for some extra baseball? (Game 163 between the Rangers and Rays set)
– Roger Hornsby
