With Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz sidelined, the Boston Red Sox are starting to feel the affects.
Replacements at third and fourth in the lineup, Jason Bay and Mike Lowell went 0-for-8 and the Red Sox collapsed in the bottom of the ninth on a Nick Green throwing error to lose their fourth game overall in five games played.
Somehow Ronny Cedeno was given a single then reached second on Green’s error and after an intentional walk to Ichiro Suzuki, Franklin Gutierrez singled to left to drive home the game-winner.
Boston had their chances as Bay and Lowell squandered a bases loaded no-out situation in the fifth on a pop up to first and a double play.

How many chances has this “potent” offensive lineup been given already this season that they haven’t cashed in on?
Ron Jackson please comeback.
Next Game – 5/19 vs. Toronto Blue Jays – Brian Tallet/Tim Wakefield
Monday’s day off is certainly needed. Time to regroup with a six game homestand.
