Tonight is all about riding hot streaks. Can Jon Lester stay hot on the mound? Can David Ortiz, who will be playing first base tonight, stay warming at the plate? Can the Red Sox stay high after their sweep vs. NY?
2009 NL East Preview
Now, I could talk myself into a few of Washington's pitchers doing better than we'd expect; Cabrera, Zimmerman, Olson. But Cabrera has always had trouble with his control, so expecting him to "get it together" isn't logical. And Scotty Olsen has some makeup issues as well. Zimmerman is very young, and young pitchers are, well, see: Clay Buccholz, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Homer Bailey, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...etc.
Rooting for the Phillies to win it all
In terms of heartache and passion for sports, Philadelphia doesn't just beat Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg, it annihilates it.
To me, I find it more important to give a tortured city and franchise a championship on which to hang their hats on.
