All of Josh Beckett’s tests with the Doctor of Doom, James Andrews, came back clean. Nevertheless, he’s being placed on the 15-day DL and Francona expects him to start next Friday’s game against Texas.
Catcher David Ross has been called up, thus making him eligible for the postseason roster. With rosters expanding Monday, there was no need to replace Beckett with another pitcher at the expense of Ross’ eligibility.
