The All-Star Break took place this past week, and as the festivities began and homers started to fly out of Target Field in a (somewhat disappointing) Home Run Derby, I decided to make last week’s poll Derby-themed. In our hypothetical all-Sox Derby, you HUGELY favored Big Papi, as he got over half the vote. And that is a perfectly acceptable answer; however, I will say this: I picked Mike Napoli, because that man does some terrible things to baseballs. He’s somebody we deserve in the Derby soon.

Also interesting: Brock Holt finishing third AND fourth (not an error), and Pedroia finishing above Jonny Gomes.

Who would win an all-Red Sox home run derby?

  • David Ortiz (55%)
  • Mike Napoli (29%)
  • Brock Holt (6%)
  • Brock Holt (5%)
  • Dustin Pedroia (3%)
  • Jonny Gomes (1%)
  • Xander Bogaerts (1%)
  • Mike Carp (0%)
  • David Ross (0%)
  • This week, we’ll look forward to the remainder of the season; in particular, the young players that will be given an opportunity to shine during the home stretch. This week’s question: among position players, which Red Sox rookie or minor league prospect will have the biggest impact on the season’s second half?

Which position player prospect will have the biggest second half for the Red Sox?

  • Xander Bogaerts
  • Jackie Bradley Jr.
  • Brock Holt
  • Christian Vazquez
  • Mookie Betts
  • Garin Cecchini
  • Other
  • I have a good idea how this poll will turn out (and it’s not who I picked), but we will see next week!
