The Red Sox got involved in the 2014-15 MLB offseason quickly today with the announcement of closer Koji Uehara’s return for two years and $18 million. Koji was largely responsible for the 2013 World Series banner located at Fenway Park, thanks to his postseason dominance, so it made sense for the Red Sox to bring back a fan favorite for a reasonable price.

The Sox still have a lot of money to play with, however, and you can expect a few new faces to be donning Sox uniforms come April. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start looking ahead at the 2015 schedule and highlight some interesting games.

Below is a quick look at three games in April that are particularly of interest with ticket data provided by TiqIQ.com.

April 6th, 2015 @ Philadelphia Phillies | Average Ticket Price = $330 | Philly parking = $9

The Red Sox return to action on April 6th next year with an interleague meeting with the Phillies. Who the starting pitcher will be is very much in the air and will most likely be a new acquisition who has never played with the team… or perhaps a new acquisition who is a former member of the Red Sox. The Phillies are in a strange state entering this offseason with several older, overpaid stars who are not carrying their weight and have been responsible for several consecutive poor seasons. This may be the year when the teams remove several of those pieces and begin a full rebuild.

April 10, 2015 @ New York Yankees | Average Ticket Price = $282 | New York City parking = $18

Just three games into the season and Boston will be making a trip to the Bronx to face the Yankees. This will be the first time the two teams meet since early 1995 that Derek Jeter will not be rostered by the Bronx Bombers so someone else will be manning the shortstop position for them. Expect a good crowd and hopefully a good game for this classic rivalry.

April 13, 2015 vs. Washington Nationals | Average Ticket Price = $364 | Boston parking = $13

The home opener for the Red Sox is April 13th against the Washington Nationals. It will be less exciting than last year’s home opener, for sure, but it will be nice to see the boys back at Fenway. Sox fans will welcome all the new faces on the squad and will be eagerly awaiting the return of the team’s stars, including the aforementioned Uehara.
