Well that didn’t take long.

After finishing in last place of the AL East in 2014, the Boston Red Sox have their sights set on a winning another division title.  The quick turnaround is thanks to their aggressive offseason, where the majority of the roster was overhauled.

A quick recap:

Jon Lester, Jake Peavy and John Lackey were sent packing; Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez, Justin Masterson, Wade Miley, Rick Porcello, Craig Breslow, Alexi Ogando were brought in; Veterans Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Mike Napoli are reinvigorated.

And there’s your recipe for a 180-degree flip from pretenders to contenders.

On top of that, the Red Sox improved their farm system in a big way when they announced that the team signed 19-year-old switch-hitting Cuban infielder Yoan Moncada. Moncada is considered one of the top-15 or so prospects in baseball and makes their strong farm system even stronger. Red Sox Manager John Ferrell also received a contract extension right before the start of training camp.

According to TiqIQ.com, Red Sox tickets for their home opener at Fenway Park on April 13th against the Washington Nationals has an average ticket price of $223.94 with a get-in price of $78. The Nationals are the odds-on favorite to win the World Series, and have one of the most complete rosters in MLB. The Red Sox faithful will be tested early.
