Gary Jacobs, of MVN.com’s Sox On Deck, is reporting that Dustan Mohr has been called up to take Coco Crisp’s spot on the Boston roster. Crisp will be placed on the 15-day DL, after fracturing his left index finger sliding into third base Saturday night.
Mohr, a 5 year veteran of the big leagues, was signed to compete for the role of Trot Nixon’s platoon mate, but found himself out of a job when the Sox traded Bronson Arroyo to Cincinnati for Wily Mo Pena in late March. Mohr opted to report to AAA Pawtucket rather than look for another big-league job, and his patience has paid off, both for him and for the Red Sox.
Gary spoke directly to Mohr only moments after the call, and has quotes up on his site, so please check that out. Nice scoop, Gary.
