GAME NOTES: The fate of the AL East is in our hands. If we simply take care of business against Oakland and later Minnesota in the Fens, where our offense tends to take off, the Red Sox will be division champs for the first time since 1995. Also, winning would help our cause towards home-field advantage in the division series or a possible LCS. Gaudin has fallen off after eclipsing his previous innings high total this year and I expect serious poundage from our offense. Even with Hinske, Boston should be able to get it done. Good time for Curt to step it up and make us feel comfortable with him starting Game 2 (maybe).
