This feels very strange.
The date is September 12th. The autumn weather is beginning to replace the beating sun of August, the wrinkly jeans and coats finding their way out of the closet. Football season is just getting underway, and for some of us, school starting. At approximately this time, the Boston Red Sox should be hitting the most important three weeks of their season. The playoffs and October baseball at Fenway Park loom in the distance. Who would we rather play in the Division Series- Oakland or Minnesota? What should our playoff rotation look like? Usually, we??re entering the climax of the baseball season- sometimes turning into heartbreak by the conclusion besides those few instances of glory.
2006 has not been so kind. Instead of looking forward to another chapter in playoff history involving the Red Sox, we??re treated to the joy of following September call-ups and pondering ways for Theo and Co. to improve this slumbering ballclub. We??re left monitoring other team??s playoff runs or simply forgetting about baseball at all in favor of another sport, or searching for small silver linings like ?
