I thought it’d be a fun exercise to predict the playoffs. We did a pretty good job predicting the position players, and we even nailed Keith Foulke’s WHIP even though we were off on his ERA. Let’s try our hand at the playoffs!
(By the way, nice effort by Devern Hansack – a no-hitter through five innings, when it was called. He gets a complete-game shutout, but not an official no-hitter. It’s a pretty good way to end the season, all things considering.)
Anyways, here’s how to predict:
– Leave a comment here or e-mail me at evanATmostvaluablenetwork.com with your predictions. Deadline is 8 PM Tuesday, when the very first playoff game starts.
– Write who you think will win, and how many games they will win over. I will then compile it all and post saying what Fire Brand thinks! The way I am going to do this is by games. I will not be counting how many people think the Yankees will win, but rather in how many games. Averaging it out will give us the predicted winner of the division series.
– To predict the Championship Series and the World Serie, I will look at the CS and WS predictions only and average out the wins of every team involved in it minus the ones we eliminated in the division series/championship series and post it that way. I’m looking forward to seeing if this system actually predicts the playoffs well.
Just follow this format, which are my predictions:
Yankees (3) over Tigers (1)
Oakland (3) over Twins (2)
New York (3) over Los Angeles (2)
San Diego (3) over Saint Louis (0)
Oakland (4) over New York (2)
San Diego (4) over New York (3)
Oakland (4) over San Diego (3)
Yes, folks, I’m picking the Athletics to defeat the Padres.
Comment away on my predictions, and leave your own!
