TOR 6, BOS 3: Long overdue
Casey Janssen had been waiting a long time for this.

The lineups are out for tonight's game against the Minnesota Twins and David Ortiz has been dropped to 6th in the batting order. Mike Lowell will be getting the night off. Here's the lineup as tweeted by Amalie Benjamin.
1. Ellsbury
2. Pedroia
3. Drew
4. Youkilis
5. Bay
6. Ortiz
7. Varitek
8. Bailey
9. Lugo
Stumbled on this interesting tweet from Joe Haggerty (a regular guest of Fireside Chats) after tonight's game.

I think it's time. Since coming back from his "break", Ortiz has hit a measly .158 with nine, count them K, K, K, K, K, K, K, K, K, in twenty one plate appearances. That's a remarkable 43%. Of course, he does have his only home run of the season (whippeee). Granted he's faced a ton of left handed pitching since his hiatus. But it is time to make a change for the good of all parties involved.
If only the replay system could be used to fix David Ortiz's swing.
Washington with their 2-16 bullpen are trying to move Nick Johnson and Austin Kearns and some of their semi-attractive veteran players to get relief pitchers. I know they offered Nick Johnson to Boston for Manny Delcarmen. That hasn't happened and may not until the Red Sox make a decision on David Ortiz. This is a deal the Red Sox would instantly do if Big Papi was at his current level of production on July 31.
Toronto may sit atop the A.L. East Divisional standings presently, but one thing is for sure. The Blue Jays haven't done anything against the teams that matter most.
When the Toronto Blue Jays came to town with a 3.5 game lead over the Boston Red Sox, it would be fair to characterize the first meeting of the two teams this season as surprisingly critical. One team was going to make a statement and thus far, it has been the Red Sox speaking the loudest.
In light of David Ortiz' home run last night, I thought it was a good opportunity to look at the collection of things working in the Red Sox favor since returning East and get a pulse from "all you FireBrandamaniacs" out there.
David Ortiz is finally smiling again. And so is Red Sox Nation.
At first glance, the A.L. East division leading Toronto Blue Jays were less than impressive. Tim Wakefield, however, couldn't have been more so.
